Exercise preventing varicose veins – the daily minimum for healthy veins

Daily exercise preventing varicose veins can really make a big difference in their future health. Exercise keeps the vascular system in shape, thanks to muscle strengthening and blood circulation, which is especially important if you already have varicose veins or if you had a thrombosis and want to prevent post-thrombotic syndrome. Some exercises are very simple and can be practiced at home.

Here are some great exercises that will benefit your blood vessels.

Suitable exercise preventing varicose veins for every day:

1. Walk!

Every day brisk walk for at least 30 minutes, helps to circulate blood and prevents stagnation of blood in the lower limbs. Walking is the most basic movement important not only as a prevention of varicose veins but also as a key part of prevention of heart disease, diabetes, and many other diseases. Even if you are tired after a day at work, the walk will benefit you. Especially if you have a sedentary job. And of course, when you are at work, you should get up and walk every hour.

2. Stretching on a chair!

You can practice this work at work if you have a sedentary job or long travel. Seated in a chair, heels on the floor while lifting the toes of your feet, slowly lay down, and then lift your heels. Repeat this exercise 20 times on each leg.

3. Circular leg movements!

Lie on your back, lift your leg at an angle of about 45 degrees and make circular movements of the legs clockwise. After 20 to 25 repetitions, do the same with the other leg.

Another simple exercise is cycling simulation: Lying down on your back, on the ground or on the edge of your bed, peddle your legs using ample circular movements for two minutes.

4. Light exercise while waiting for a bus

You can do it while waiting for a bus, but also at work and  anytime you have to stand for a long time. Lift up on the tips, hold for three seconds, and then stand on your whole feet again. Raise your toes. Repeat both exercises twenty times. These exercises are effective prevention of varicose veins.

Excellent prevention of varicose veins is also cycling or swimming.

Sports unsuitable for patients with varicose veins

Absolutely unsuitable for people with varicose veins are those activities that involve sudden changes in movement and high weight pressure. Therefore, patients with varicose veins should avoid weight lifting. Squash or tennis is not suitable either. At an advanced stage of varicose veins, downhill skiing is also not recommended.
